F. No.50-91/2003-LDT (AQ) |
|
Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi. |
| To The Directors (Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services) of all the States/UTs. Sir, Sub: Surveillance of Avian Influenza in the country - Regarding. This is in continuation to this office letter of even number dated the 11th June and 4th October, 2004 on the subject cited above. The recent review of the reports by FAO and OIE of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) suggests that the virus continues to circulate in South East Asia and that the occurrence of the disease continues unabated. In view of the above, we may have to continue all precautionary measures that have been undertaken to stop ingress of the disease in to the country. In order to update the position in the country, sero surveillance may have to be undertaken on a continuous basis. You are, therefore, requested to collect the serum samples of poultry randomly from your state and send it to the RDDL of your region for onward transmission to the HSADL, Bhopal for testing. In case of mortality in chicks due to some outbreak, the morbid material from such birds may also be sent to the High Security Animal Disease Laboratory, Bhopal for confirmation. This may be treated as most urgent. |

Yours faithfully, |
